Grade 7 donation to Asilo San Vicente de Paul

I am very proud of how much effort and love Grade 7 put into The Guy Fawkes event. We manage to collect more than $500.00 for charity. Today, we went with some of the students to visit the Asilo San Vicente de Paul. They lived a unique experience as they saw how some of the elder ladies that have no family live. They understood that not all salvadorean grandmothers are as lucky as theirs. They share an afternoon of joy, the ladies were happy talking about their lives and sharing their stories, but most of all they were impressed that some teenagers remembered to visit them for Christmas. We all promise to go back, and to continue working for those in need. Thank you Grade 7, and Mrs. Canales for coming with us. You all did a fantastic job.

Message from the Humanities department

Santa Tecla, November 2014

Dear Parents / Guardian

Grade 7 History Trip to San Andrés and Casa Blanca Tuesday 16th December

This term Grade 7 students have been studying a history unit on Central America and the Conquistadors. To complement their studies the Humanities Department has organised a trip to the archeological sites at San Andrés and Casa Blanca on Tuesday 16th of December. Students will depart from school at 8:05 a.m. (period2) and return to school by the end of the school day (approximately 1:50 p.m.). Whilst on the trip, students will have the opportunity to visit both sites and take a guided tour.

The cost of the trip will be $12. This includes transport and entrance to archeological sites.

Students will need to
  • come dressed in their PE shirts with jeans and tennis shoes
  • remember to use sunscreen
  • bring a waterproof coat or jacket
  • bring a packed lunch and water
  • bring a clipboard, coloured pencils, pencil with eraser and pen to complete work during the visit.

The above items are recommended to ensure your son or daughter’s wellbeing and enjoyment whilst on the trip. We would be grateful for your support and cooperation in ensuring that each student is suitably dressed and properly equipped on their arrival at school that day. The trip will go ahead as planned even if it rains, therefore it is essential for each student to wear suitable clothing. As with all school trips, excellent behaviour is expected at all times.
Whilst on the trip, the students will be accompanied by history staff members and POLITUR security.
This is a great opportunity for students to gain a better insight into some of the events they have been learning about in lessons and we strongly encourage all students to attend. If you have any questions about the trip please contact Mrs. Duarte (carmenvillalta@abc-net.edu.sv). Please complete the reply slip below and ask your child to return it with the payment to Mrs. Duarte in (H3) by Tuesday 2nd of December 2014.

Yours faithfully

Gillian Gregory

 "Know your school" - invitación

Letter to our KS3 ICT Parents
Dear Parents,

It was great to speak to many of you both this week and last and in doing so discuss the progress your children have made in ICT during the first half of the school year. These were both very busy parent evenings and unfortunately we didn't get to speak to everyone. This letter will serve as a general update on the experiences your children have engaged in so far this school year, as well as an explanation of the feedback we are sending home, for those parents we haven't yet spoken to. http://abc-lrc.blogspot.com/2014/02/letter-to-our-ks3-ict-parents.html

The IGCA is organising a collection of materials to help a local school in Santa Tecla. You are being asked to play your part by bringing in materials which can be given to your tutor each morning and will then be collected by the IGCA team. “If each of us do our bit then collectively we will make a major contribution.”

IGCA are asking Grade 6 to bring rulers, We will record the number of items collected and there will be awards for the most collected.

 Please bring in something!
