RACE FOR SURVIVAL

Estimados padres de la ABC:

Espero que, por el Boletín Semanal ABC o por hablar con sus hijos, ustedes están bien

enterados del evento tan importante que está por llevarse a cabo – la primera CARRERA

POR SOBREVIVENCIA.  Este es un gran evento para recaudar fondos y tomar

conciencia y para demostrar el compromiso que tiene la comunidad ABC hacia la

supervivencia y el bienestar de los niños en El Salvador.

La CARRERA POR SOBREVIVENCIA (sábado, 14 de noviembre de 8:30 a.m. – 12:30

p.m.) esto incluye lo siguiente:

 a 28 vueltas en la competencia de relevos de tribus en el campo de la escuela

(cada estudiante solo correrá 2 vueltas)

 Cada tribu (Azteca, Inca, Maya, Pipiles) tendrá 28 estudiantes corriendo en el

relevo

 Otros juegos divertidos y competencias entre tribus – así es una oportunidad para

un niño representar a su tribu

 Una carrera de 2.8 km para alumnos individuales o corredores adultos – ¡así es

que Padres también vengan con su equipo deportivo!

 Crear conciencia y fondos para hospitales locales para las salas de neonatales

 Comida, música, presentaciones, premios

 Y como ultimo punto, ¡la comunidad de la ABC se congrega para enviar un

mensaje que esta comprometida (junto con la Organización de Save the Children)

con la sobrevivencia infantil en El Salvador!

La razón del número 28 es que un bebé recién nacido es más vulnerable durante sus

primeros 28 días y en El Salvador esto es cuando una gran cantidad de recién nacidos

pierden la vida. También, según Save the Children, 28% de las muertes infantiles en El

Salvador son debido a los bebés que nacen prematuramente. ¡Nuestra CARRERA POR

SOBREVIVENCIA aumentará la conciencia, recaudará fondos y significativamente

ayudará a evitar estas perdidas!

Por favor animen a su hijo/s a inscribirse para que participe en la carrera de 28 vueltas de

la competencia de relevos de su tribu. (a la actual CARRERA POR SOBREVIVENCIA) y

tal vez la carrera de 2,8 km también. Los estudiantes que se inscriban para correr

mediante el formulario de Google que Mr Rombout les envió por correo electrónico

(http://goo.gl/forms/HSX4gcQlqI), también la tribu ganara puntos

Ya sea que su hijo corra o no en la carrera, se les pide a los padres que por favor traigan

a su familia a nuestra primera CARRERA POR SOBREVIVENCIA, el sábado, 14 de

noviembre y participen en este evento histórico en la ABC, que realmente debe mostrar

nuestro compromiso con la sobrevivencia infantil en El Salvador!

Dearest ABC parents,

I hope that, from the ABC weekly and/or talking to your child, you are well aware of the

important event that is on the horizon – the ABC’s first RACE FOR SURVIVAL. This is a

major event to raise awareness and funds and to show the ABC community’s commitment

to the survival and wellbeing of infants in El Salvador.

The RACE FOR SURVIVAL (Saturday 14th November 8.30am – 12.30pm) includes the

following:

 a 28 lap tribal competition relay on the school field (each student will only have to

run 2 laps)

 each tribe (Aztec, Inca, Maya, Pipil) will have 28 students running in the relay

 other fun games and tribal completions – so an opportunity for child to represent

his or her tribe

 a 2.8 km race for individual student or adult runners - so parents wear your

running gear!

 raising awareness and funds for local hospitals’ neonatal wards

 food, music, performance, awards

 ultimately the ABC community assembling together to send out the message that

we are committed (along with Save the Children) to the survival of infants in El

Salvador!

The reason for the number 28 is that a new-born baby is most vulnerable during its first 28

days and in El Salvador this is when a large proportion of babies lose their lives. Also,

according to Save the Children, 28% of infant deaths in El Salvador are due to the babies

being born prematurely. Our RACE FOR SURVIVAL will increase awareness, raise funds

and significantly help to prevent such loses!

Please encourage your child to sign up to run in the actual 28 lap tribal competition relay

(the actual RACE FOR SURVIVAL) and perhaps the 2.8km race as well. Students that

sign up to run using the google form that Mr Rombout emailed

(http://goo.gl/forms/HSX4gcQlqI) will gain a tribal point too.

Whether or not you child is running in the race, parents please bring your family to our first

RACE FOR SURVIVAL on Saturday 14th November and participate in this historic event at

the ABC that should really show our commitment to infant survival in El Salvador!

Help Locally

Dear Parents and Class of 2020, 

Ante la presente situación climática y los estragos que ha causado en muchas comunidades aledañas a Santa Tecla deseamos llevar acabo un esfuerzo unificado de toda la comunidad de la ABC para apoyar a las personas que han sido afectadas directamente. Durante los próximos días seremos centro de acopio para poder ayudar localmente. Las necesidades primordiales son productos alimenticios y ropa para todas las edades. Estaremos colectando sus donaciones en las oficinas de Primaria y Secundaria desde mañana miércoles 21 hasta el jueves 29 de octubre. 

In view of the present weather and how it has affected many communities close to Santa Tecla, we would like to unify the support of the entire ABC community to aid the people affected directly by the storms. In the next few days we will be a collecting centre in order to help locally. The biggest need is of food products and clothing for all ages.  We will be collecting your donations at the Primary and Secondary Offices starting tomorrow Wednesday 21^st through Thursday 29, October.

Say no to gossip and bullying. Say yes to friendship

Dear Parents,

Grade 8 boys and girls were separated for their most recent lifeskills lesson. We focused on building positive relationships and respect. We discussed the following issues: gossiping, bullying, hitting, name calling and hormones.

Parents, please help us by talking to your child/children about having respect for all people and being nice to everybody, even those who aren't in their immediate friend circle. Hormones can be a difficult thing to understand and deal with but does not excuse bad behaviour towards others.

Grade 8 are a wonderful year group and I would like all to get on with each other and build on friendships and become closer during this year. Let's build on positive friendships. Be KIND, be NICE, be YOUR BEST.

Hello to you all,

Students spent a life skills lesson on 'What makes Us All Human?'. We looked at citizenship and the backgrounds and lives of many famous people. They discussed their similarities as well as their differences. The students presented their work and reflected upon the fact we are all human, we all have feelings and we need to have and show respect to everybody.
