Success

A very successful mathcounts trip to Mexico. Well done to Marcelo, Carlos and Airi individually and to all of the participants. Our Team A came second and team B third. An amazing accomplishment, well done all!

A thank you also from myself to the parents who accompanied and helped me.

Following a successful mathcounts trip, all of grade 8 participated in a maths group project. Today they visited the PAC with their project work games which were created to certain criteria and had the chance to play the different maths games. I was very impressed with many of the games, clearly a lot of effort had gone into them. Well done you!

You will soon be receiving the CAL 2 reports and a huge congratulations to those who received a ROC merit, well done! For those of you who didn't, CAL 3 is upon us... ROC merits are based upon work skills, all of you can get great work skills scores. You are given scores for:

Effort and enthusiasm shown in class and for the subject
Homework completed and being handed in on time
Being prepared with the correct equipment and being punctual to class
Respect and cooperation shown to the teacher and within the subject

Laptop specifications

Dear Parents, 

I have spoken to the ICT department, following many questions from parents, and asked for their advice on laptops for next year. 

Here is their advice: 

I would strongly suggest the following specifications when getting a new laptop:

Screen size: 11'' - 14''

Processor: Core i3 (latest generation) (Core i5 desirable)

RAM: 4GB minimum (8GB+ desirable)

Hard Drive: 250GB regular hard drive minimum (SSD, Solid State Drive - desirable, you can easily upgrade it to one)

The Operating System option is up to the student, the most common ones: Mac OS X, Windows 10 they can do great with both around the school.

For computer science I would suggest the "desirable" specs (with a 14'' screen) and for the rest the basic ones should be enough.
