Message from the Humanities department

Santa Tecla, November 2014

Dear Parents / Guardian

Grade 7 History Trip to San Andrés and Casa Blanca Tuesday 16th December

This term Grade 7 students have been studying a history unit on Central America and the Conquistadors. To complement their studies the Humanities Department has organised a trip to the archeological sites at San Andrés and Casa Blanca on Tuesday 16th of December. Students will depart from school at 8:05 a.m. (period2) and return to school by the end of the school day (approximately 1:50 p.m.). Whilst on the trip, students will have the opportunity to visit both sites and take a guided tour.

The cost of the trip will be $12. This includes transport and entrance to archeological sites.

Students will need to
  • come dressed in their PE shirts with jeans and tennis shoes
  • remember to use sunscreen
  • bring a waterproof coat or jacket
  • bring a packed lunch and water
  • bring a clipboard, coloured pencils, pencil with eraser and pen to complete work during the visit.

The above items are recommended to ensure your son or daughter’s wellbeing and enjoyment whilst on the trip. We would be grateful for your support and cooperation in ensuring that each student is suitably dressed and properly equipped on their arrival at school that day. The trip will go ahead as planned even if it rains, therefore it is essential for each student to wear suitable clothing. As with all school trips, excellent behaviour is expected at all times.
Whilst on the trip, the students will be accompanied by history staff members and POLITUR security.
This is a great opportunity for students to gain a better insight into some of the events they have been learning about in lessons and we strongly encourage all students to attend. If you have any questions about the trip please contact Mrs. Duarte (carmenvillalta@abc-net.edu.sv). Please complete the reply slip below and ask your child to return it with the payment to Mrs. Duarte in (H3) by Tuesday 2nd of December 2014.

Yours faithfully
